Sustainable Energy Priority Area (PA2) of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) organised its 5th Stakeholder Seminar, entitled “Green transportation in the Danube Region’’, which was held on the 5th December 2018 in Budapest.
The event was jointly organised by the Czech Republic and Hungary, coordinating countries of the Priority Area.
The aim of the Stakeholder Seminar was to present a study prepared by Regional Centre for Energy Policy Research (REKK). The study is focusing on the international freight transportation, where decarbonisation policies, such as infrastructure investments, financial incentives and regulatory constraints can promote the use of sustainable energy with two different but complementary approaches: incentivising the use of alternative fuels in road transportation, and diverting the road transportation into less carbon intensive modes, such as rail.
H. E. Pál Ságvári, Ambassador-at-Large for Energy Security from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, held the opening speech of the Stakeholder Seminar. After that the Green transport study was presented by András Vékony, Senior Research Associate of Regional Centre for Energy Policy Research (REKK).
