European City Facility (EUCF) 1st call is open now for municipalities to develop sustainable energy projects

European City Facility (EUCF) supports local authorities and their groupings with fast and simplified financial support and related services to enable municipalities in Europe to develop relevant investment concepts related to the implementation of actions identiftied in their climate and energy action plans.

In order to support local sustainable energy investments, EUCF launches a call for tenders for municipalities and municipal associations to prepare their sustainable energy investments based on the municipal strategies, within the framework of projects worth € 60,000. The first call is open from 25 May 2020 until 2 October 2020.

The following tentative timeline applies for the EUCF calls for applications:

Call for Applications Application period
1st call 25 May 2020 – 2 October 2020
2nd call March – April 2021
3rd call October – November 2021
4th call May – June 2022

 Each call is organised in parallel for three geographic regions (incl. UK) of the European Union:

 

Regions Countries
Central and Eastern Europe Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia.
Nordic countries & Western Europe Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom.
Southern Europe Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain.

The evaluation of the EUCF applications is conducted after the close of each call for applications by a dedicated evaluation team and it is based on five criteria: investment size, energy savings, governance structure, stakeholder engagement and alignment with EUCF objectives.
