May 14, 2024in 2024 0 Likes

A high number of projects were submitted for the Priority 2 – A greener. low-carbon Danube Region of the Danube Region Programme. After the assessment process 10 project proposals were chosen for funding. Out of these projects 5 were supported by the Priority Area 2 of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. The coordinations will actively participate in the implementation process as well as Associated Strategic Partner.

The NRGCOM project, led by the South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency (HU), will support the creation of appropriate operational condition for renewable energy communities in the Danube Region. The consortia of 13 partners from 12 countries aims to provide the Danube Region with proper environment and informed society, where community renewable energy initiatives can be launched and expand unhindered.

Under the leadership of Békéscsaba, City of County Rank (HU), with the contribution of 12 project partners from 10 countries, the StoreMore project targets the critical challenge of energy storage within the Danube Region, specifically focusing on the environmental impacts of current storage methods and the need for more sustainable alternatives.

The University of Landhust (DE – BY) is the lead partner of the Danube Indeet project. Building on previous successful project results, the project will facilitate the expansion and implementation of renewable energy in the Danube Region. It will focus on the storage and outside the grid utilization of the fluctuating electricity. The project will elaborate an integrated and decentralized concept rethinking energy and transport systems based on renewable energy. They will analyze the intelligent integration of electric vehicles as mobile storage solutions and electrolysis for green hydrogen production.

The Danube GeoHeCo project, led by Medjimurje Energy Agency (HR) intends to foster the integration of shallow geothermal solutions into existing fossil-fuel based domestic HC systems, raise awareness and enhance capacities. The purpose of proposed activities carried out by the 12 partners is to achieve ambitious EU energy and climate targets by 2030 and consequently 2050.

Led by the Local Energy Agency Spodnje Podravje (SI), the goal of SMEnergy project is to create a pilot network of regional/countrywide service centers in order to support energy-intensive SMEs in accelerating the transition to adopting renewable energies. The final aim of the project is to create both national and transnational strategies/toolkits on how the diverse SME segments can be better supported in the increased use of renewables.
