14TH STEERING GROUP MEETING IN BUDAPEST – 13 JULY 2017
The Steering Group of the Priority Area 2 of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region held its 14th meeting in Budapest on 13 July 2017. The delegates of 11 countries have met to discuss the progress of the priority area as well as the upcoming tasks.
The meeting has been opened by Mr Gábor Jenei, deputy national coordinator of Hungary who has welcomed the participants in the name of the Hungarian Presidency of the Strategy; and by Ms Pavla Kačabová, national coordinator of the Czech Republic.
The Priority Area coordinators, Ms Veronika Šiková from the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and Mr Pál Ságvári, Ambassador-at-large for Energy Security from the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have presented the progress of the priority area since the last Steering Group meeting in October 2016. They have given a summary about the events organized and visited by PA2 team, the studies conducted during this period, the projects supported and the communication activity effectuated by the priority area. Ms Veronika Šiková has asked the contribution of the Steering Group members in creating an international stakeholder list for the better and more efficient dissemination of the news, events and results of the priority area.
Mr Pál Ságvári has acquainted the present members with the concept of the Stakeholder Seminar to be organized in December 2017 in Brussels, then two presentations were held by two institutes, the Czech MUNI and the Hungarian REKK, which serve as a basis for the studies being prepared for the seminar.
Ms Ana Leganel from the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg DANUBE Transnational Programme has briefed the Steering Group on the 2nd call of the programme, and after has presented the Seed Money Facility (SMF) and the capitalization concept. Mr Félix Moldován from the Hungarian Presidency of the EUSDR has informed the participants about the Annual Forum of the Strategy to be organized on 18-19 October 2017 in Budapest. The thematic scope of the forum will be connectivity, focusing on traditional energy, transport and clean transport.
At the Steering Group meeting PA2 coordination has tried to identify possible synergies with other programs and macro-regional strategies, therefore the Carpathian Convention, the energy priority area of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region and DGResearch was invited to give an overview about their activities.
As project generation and support is one of the main objectives of the priority area, the project manager of DARLINGe project, Ms Annamária Nádor was invited to present the status of the project and also to introduce the two other projects which are in the Thematic Pole 8 “Sustainable energy”, EnergyBarge and 3Smart.
